Ullal: SDPI’s Mangaluru assembly constituency candidate Riyaz Farangipet has said that the main reason for the scrapping of the 2B reservation is a continuation of the anti-Muslim attitude of the BJP government and the silent consent of the spineless opposition parties.
He was addressing a protest organized by the SDPI at Deralakatte against the state government’s decision to scrap the 4-2B reservation.
Recently, the Bommai government in the state gave 10 percent reservation to Muslims. The 4 2B reservation has been abolished and allotted to the Lingayat and Vokkaliga communities in a ratio of 2 percent each. The SDPI has threatened to launch a mass movement across the state if the order is not withdrawn. It is condemnable that the state government has abolished the 4 percent reservation in Category 2B of the Muslim community and warned that this reservation should be restored otherwise the SDPI will organize a large-scale agitation after Ramzan.
Taking a dig at those who mocked him saying that nothing can be achieved by street struggles, Riyaz Farangipet reminded us that the country got freedom through street struggles. Hindus and Muslims live in harmony here and the fascist forces who do not tolerate this will do such things and sour us,” he said.
SDPI Karnataka state committee members Ataullah Jokatte, Rahiman Boliyar, and others were present at the protest meeting. SDPI constituency committee president Irshad Ajjinadka, state leaders Nawaz Ullal, SDPI field committee secretary Ashraf Manchi, kshetra committee joint secretary Ubaid Ammambala, treasurer Latheef Kodijal, field committee members Naushad Kinya, Suhail Ullal and others were present at the protest meeting.
