Ullal: A feeling of humanity and harmony is awakened by literature. Literary conferences should be held here and there to develop a passion for literature. U T Khader, MLA from Mangaluru Assembly constituency, said that it is commendable that a Kannada Sahitya Sammelana has been organized for the first time in Ullal. He was speaking at the release of the invitation card for the first Kannada Sahitya Sammelana organized by the Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Ullal taluk on Mar.17th at Mangala Auditorium of Mangalore University.
Dr. M.P. Srinath, President, of Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat, who presided over the function, said that Sahitya sammelans should not only provide platforms to local litterateurs but also introduce new writers to the country. At the Ullal Sahitya Sammelana, he said that the election of Shyamala Madhava, who hails from Uchila and is currently residing in Mumbai, as the president is a matter of respect for the village and the outside country.
Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner Raju, Ullal Tahsildar Puttaraju, Executive Officer Rajanna, Ullal CDPO Shyla, Deputy Tahsildar Navaneeth, Social Leader Satish Kampala, Ullal Sahitya Parishat Treasurer Lion Chandrahas Shetty, Reception Committee President Prasad Rai Kallimaru and others were present. Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble, President of Ullal Taluk, explained the contours of the conference and welcomed everyone. Secretary Ravindra Rai Kallimaru proposed the vote of thanks. Organizing Secretary Thyagam Harekala compered the program.
